Zoe Saldana’s Guardians of the Galaxy Workout


Zoe Saldana is kicking butt and looking great doing it in the new flick “Guardian Of The Galaxy”. Recently, SHAPE magazine caught up with her personal trainer  Steve Moyer, to find out what secrets he used to whip Zoe into shape. He also dishes on her nutrition plan, and gives great advice on how to fit in a workout when you are short on time.

Shape: What does a typical workout with Zoe entail? Steve Moyer: Generally speaking, we work her full body with an emphasis on staying lean and strong. I like to combine three or four exercises in a row to keep the workout moving and take advantage of the time. When she’s in town, sometimes workouts last a full hour. Sometimes it’s 30 minutes. I’ll do lots of cardio and core if I know I won’t be seeing the client the next day. If I know we are working out on consecutive days, I split the workouts according to body parts. For a full body workout, I like to do a leg exercise like squats, followed by a core exercise like plank push-ups (which also hits the triceps), followed by a cardio exercise, which also targets the legs like Jumping Lunges. That’s a great series that will build strength and endurance and can be a major aid in leaning out and shedding unwanted pounds.

Dwayne Johnson Reveals His #TeamHercules Diet Plan

Dwayne Johnsons aka The Rock reveals his team Hercules diet plan.

He recently had to get into the best shape of his life (you would’ve though he was already there) for the role of “Hercules” and he wanted to share with all his instagram followers what his intense diet regimen consisted of to get there.

The ordinary person would eat 3 meals a day, including a couple of snacks. but if you want to pack on some lean mean muscle you need you need to add a whole lot more to your meals.

The rock revealed he had to eat seven times a day, and it wasn’t including snack it was  seven meals a day. Each meal consisted of either chicken, fish, protein powder, and egg whites. Along with rice, potatoes or oatmeal for carbohydrates and broccoli or asparagus seems to be his veggie of choice.

Dwayne explained this was no fad diet. He had to commit to this particular food plan for 22 weeks. His 14 egg whites a day, and over 3 pounds of lean meat helped him really turn in to the  greek God Hercules.

Prevent Post BBQ Blues With Tips From The Celebs

One thing about the rich and famous, they know how to work hard and play hard too! Holidays are always a fun time, but when you  suddenly step on the scale and your regretting over-undulging at that BBQ, you may say to yourself “it wasn’t really worth it!” To beat the BBQ Blues, we take some tips from some celebrities who know to have a guilt free holiday.

 

This week we spotted celebs both on the east coast and west coast in their sweats heading for the hills, or the gym putting in some extra time in work before their 4th of July weekend approached.

 

Kim Kardashian was spotted in NYC hair up, chillen with no make up on leaving the gym with a large bottle of water, in what it looks like rehydrating after an intense workout schedule. The reality star knows the importance of putting in work in the gym, she lost a total of 55lbs pounds since having baby North. She admits, that losing the baby weight was the hardest challenge she has faced in life. Kim explains the type of workouts she likes to do saying;

“I like to mix it up. I do Pilates, Barry’s Bootcamp and hikes with my daughter in the stroller. It’s really hard to push it uphill!”

 

In addition to her workouts, she adheres to the Atkin diet which consists of High proteins and low carbs. It was rumored that Carbs were banned from her house before her wedding to avoid all temptation. We having a feeling this holiday Kim will stick to the kabobs, and a burger with no bun!

 

On the other side of the states, Lea michelle was spotted taking a hike by her lonesome thru the Hollywood hills. This actress sure knows how to get her act together, especially when the 4th of July is approaching. She tends to stick to workouts that she enjoys, admitting that being outdoors is where she has the most fuun putting in a sweat;

I love hiking… love being outdoors, I love bike riding. Just stuff that’s fun! 

Contrary to Kim K., Lea Michelle may not be packing on the meats to her plate, She was a vegan for two years. Although she goes back and forth with her vegan lifestlye, she explains her preference of food choice doesn’t depend on an up coming role or holiday, but what her body tells her;

I really feel that you need to kind of listen to your body and what your body is telling you to eat. So I was a vegan for about two years. 

 

This Holiday take some tips form these two beau’s and get in a good sweat, and be picky at the bbq to prevent any post BBQ Blues! Have a Happy and safe 4th of july!

Rick Ross Loses Over 100lbs Doing “RossFit”

It seemed like it was just yesterday when fans were concerned about Rick Ross’ health. He suffered two seizures shortly one after the other last year. Even rapper 50 Cent commented on Rick Ross’ health scare in an interview with Angie Martinez, stating Hip Hop doesn’t need another loss due to being over weight, like Big Pun;

“If a person has a seizure twice, they’re not really [taking care of themselves]. You can look and see he’s not conscious of his health. We lost [Big] Pun like that. I don’t wish death on nobody…It’s early age for you to be having two seizures.” 

Counting all that money I guess wasn’t enough for Rick Ross’. It seems as if he realized he can’t make that money, if he doesn’t have his health. After being introduced to a trainer, and learning he needed to change his diet, he realized it was time. There was no specific weight loss goal, but he knew it was time to make that change for the better;

“It was just time for me to tighten up a little bit, you know what I’m saying. As far as, you know, me working out…I have no destination, no specific weight.”

 

 

Recently Ross’ has been popping up doing interviews, and performing on stage looking healthier than ever! Losing an easy estimate of over 100lbs, this Maybach rapper has defnitely been putting in work. He claims he doesn’t run on the treadmill for hours, he does something that he likes to call “RossFit”;

“I do this sh-t called CrossFit. I call it RossFit. Earlier this summer, Reebok had introduced me to a trainer, and what he turned me onto was, let’s say, for instance, if you got on the treadmill, and you did that sh-t for 30 minutes. Yeah, you burning calories, but you could be doing something that’s burning calories and building muscle at the same time. So, it’s like you working out for a shorter time”.

As for as his diet goes, he says he know incorporates healthy foods including fruit;

“But now, they, they, you know, they give me fruit to eat. I forgot what fruit, you know, tasted like. I eat pears now and sh-t like that”.

I love the fact that even previous to his weight loss, he still had enough confidence in his self to take his shirt off on stage. But I love it even more that he took charge of his health even though he was secure with his weight. Cheers to health Ross!

Jessica Simpson Is Ready To Get Married!

We all know Jessica is one of Weight Watchers biggest fans using it constantly. And with the amount of pictures she’s posting of herself on her Instagram, we know she is looking fabulous and feels very confident these days.

The famous singer and mom of two is doing everything she can to get ready for her big wedding day.  She has lost 50 pounds since having her second child after putting on a ton of weight.  Jessica’s personal trainer Harley Pasternak told US Weekly that she strength trains an hour a day three times a week and walks at least six miles a day.  Her favorite leg workouts include bench step-overs, single-leg dead lifts, and skater lunges.

When Jessica appeared on Good Morning America, she admitted that,

For breakfast, I’m an oatmeal girl. Lunch, I do bread, so I will have a sandwich.”

She also told USA Today that having kids is a workout on its own.

“With both kids, I’m running up and down my stairs a million times.  Kids can keep your metabolism going.”

“The Divorce Diet” Helped Khloe Kardashian Lose 30lbs!

For some break ups cause people to gain weight, they will reach for the ice cream pint, instead of the gym (like her bro Rob Kardashian.) but for this Kardashian, she took her butt to the gym.

As a certiefied Personal Trainer, and after much inspection, it seems to me that Khloe Kardashian weight loss can be attributed to  “The Divorce Diet”.

Wondering what the divorce diet is, check it out below;

1. Get your aggression out! Break ups can hurt, but please no more tears on your pillow! Instead of letting the pain and anger build up inside of you from being done wrong by your x, take it to the gym like Khloe and take it out on the bags, boxing bags that is.

Khloe; “I love to box. Boxing is really fun, and it’s such a stress reliever. I’m just so busy having fun, I forget that I’m working out; 45 minutes go by and I’m dripping wet.”

2. Become obsessed You have to change your thought pattern, it’s no longer about him, now its about you! Become obsessed with the gym. It’s a great way to keep your mind busy, your body busy, and putting the focus back on caring for yourself.

3. Workout with your friends. Grab your sisters or friends and go for a hike, take a cycling class. Nicole Scherzinger Says She’s Naturally Fabulous

Let’s be honest, she didn’t use those exact words, but she pretty much meant it.  While most people in the spotlight diet constantly and workout seven days a week, Nicole does not have to do half of that.  But even though that is the case now, it doesn’t mean she has never dieted.

Perez Hilton reported that the singer looks the way she does thanks to her genetics.  If that’s true, can we all get a little of her genetics?  When asked about dieting Nicole said,

“I used to diet a lot and now I don’t believe in them because you’re going to binge. your metabolism gets messed up and then your weight is going to yo-yo.  I did that for a long time.”

She does keep track of meals and what she eats though.  She either has six small meals a day or three main meals.  But when she eats like that, she doesn’t feel bad about having a cookie.  She actually said that she cannot live with chips or cake.  Who can blame her?

Biggest Loser Trainer Bob Harper Says Diet Trumps Exercise In Weight Loss

So how important is dieting when you are trying to lose weight? Very Important!

According to “The Biggest Loser” trainer Bob Harper:

“It is all about your diet. I used to think a long time ago that you can beat everything you eat out of you and it’s just absolutely not the case.”

Harper has assisted people in losing weight, both on “The Biggest Loser” and off cameras, he even has DVD workouts and a book called “The Skinny Rules,” which gives advice on dropping excess weight.

But aside from promoting a healthy diet, Harper’s big part of his exercise regimen consists of lunges and core-strengthening exercises.

Harper says that this exercise helps people to get their heart rate up and once doing so, they can be able to burn fat.

Dr. Mark Kelly, an exercise physiologist at the American Council on Exercise believes that indeed diet can lower weight, but exercise allows the lower weight to stick.

Well Known Weight Loss Programs Losing Customers

It looks like some of the weight loss programs are actually losing some weight, the wrong weight….it’s customers. Oh no!

According to Yahoo, the popular weight loss programs such as Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, and Weight Watchers are losing money.

Jenny Craig’s sales have declined the first half of the year, Weight Watchers revenue is down 3.7 so far in this year, and even worse, Nutrisystem’s sales have declined since 2008, dropping 20 percent.

The blame? The economy.

The other blame….free apps! Apps such as My Fitness Pal has the same concept as Weight Watchers, but is free.

Weight Watcher’s Chief Financial Officer, says:

“The issue with free apps is that they’re taking trial [members] out of the market.”

The Spokesperson for Nestle (which owns Jenny Craig) Edie Burge  says:

“The entire weight-loss category is going through a transition during a difficult economic environment.”

The unfortunate part is that the Lean Cuisine meals, which Nestle makes, have also declined in sales.

NutriSystem Chief Executive Dawn Zier does not blame the internet. She believes that people only come to Nutrisystem because they want something more structured and was unable to find so elsewhere.

Aside from the commercials, Nutrisystem recently started selling five-day weight loos kits at Walmart to boost it retail sales.

On the other hand, weight loss programs such as Herbalife, Medifast, and USANA Health Services have done well so far this year.

Well, we hope that there is a level playing field, because as much as obesity is on the rise, these programs are a way of hope.

Beyonce “Flaunts” It All On New Magazine Cover

We have all seen the Mrs. Carter risky concert costumes (the one drawing attention to her ta-ta’s), and now she is at it again flaunting her amazing curves and getting our attention on the cover of Flaunt Magazine.

Looking fierce and comfortable in her skin Beyonce is seen in colored body paint striking a pose for the magazine’s photoshoot.

Beyonce spoke to Flaunt about the controversy over her Pepsi Ad campaign and why she decided to do the campaign;

 

Flaunt: Some were critical at your participating in a Pepsi campaign after you moved your body for childhood obesity. Where is the balance between your career objectives and your philanthropy?

 

Beyonce: “Pepsi is a brand I’ve grown up seeing my heroes collaborate with. The company respects musicians and artistry. I wouldn’t encourage any person, especially a child, to live life without balance. When you work out, take care of your body, rehearse as hard as I rehearsed in the commercial, I think it’s great to have a Pepsi or Diet Pepsi when you want one. It’s all about choices.”
