Olympian Ryan Lochte’s Most Innovative Workouts

Olympian Ryan Lochte knows how to work.

I was able to catch up with the competitive swimmer and eleven time olympic medalist on the red carpet a couple months ago at the Hall Of Game Awards, and he told me he was going hard working out prepping for the next Olympics, but the videos below definitely prove it!

Nissan Innovation is a new endurance community that captures the most athletic and fit individuals, and put together a series of videos, showcasing them running, cycling and training during workouts.

The pictures and videos below show the world record holding swimmer Ryan Lochte with his Strength and Conditioning coach Matt Delancey demonstrating one of his workouts; Box Jumps.

To build speed and power, try this full-body plyometric move. It will build strength in your upper body, core, and legs. Keep your core tight as you do the move for 6 sets of 3 reps each, jumping up onto a box about 40 inches high (start lower and progress if you need to). You can add a medicine ball (30 to 40 pounds) to do medicine ball slams, for more of a challenge (slam the ball as you jump and then catch it). This adds “chaos” to the mix so you’ll continue to see gains.

Jillian Michaels “Slim For Life” Tips

Jillian is back!

After taken some time off to be a new mom, Jillian Michaels is back to whip you into shape. Season 14 of The Biggest Loser welcomed her with open arms and so did Wendy Williams when she went on The Wendy show to promote her new book “Slim For Life”.

The fitness trainer knows what it is like to be heavy and struggle to keep the weight off. As a teenager she was over weight. In her new book “Slim for life”, she talks about how she lost and kept the weight off, and how you can too.

Here are some tips she shared on The Wendy show that can help you lose the weight and keep it off for good!

The cooler the core the harder you train. If you hold cold water bottles or cold hand packs while you run or jog you can go longer and faster. Also the smell of peppermint oil enhances your intensity while training.

Drinking tea helps curb appetite , helps burn fat, and boost your metabolism. Caffeinated tea can also help the intensity of your workout, which in turn will help you burn more calories.

Oranges, reds and yellows are all colors that stimulate your mind and enhance your appetite when you see them. Studies show that seeing the color blue helps decrease your appetite. Fill your kitchen with blue plates, cups or even put on some blue colored glasses to indulge less while eating.

Portion size is crucial when trying to stay healthy and or lose weight. Control your portion sizes by making some of your fave desserts in a muffin tin. This way you won’t have to waste time counting calories anymore.

Capsaicin, a main ingredient in spicy foods helps speed up your metabolism. People who consume spicy foods naturally eat less food partly because your taste buds are overwhelmed. Jillian advises to heat it up!

She also encourages you to dish the traditional spoon and fork and grab some chopsticks. It takes on average, 20 minutes to feel full when eating. If you use chopsticks, you’ll grab less food and take longer to finish it all, preventing any chance of binging. If you don’t have chop sticks in reach eat with your non dominant hand.

For more of Jillian’s tips check out her book “Slim For Life” which is now available in book stores and online.

What’s your fitness routine like these days?

I’m really into hiking and jogging with my dog right now. I recently got a really big dog and he needs exercise all the time, so that is something that is new for me. I work out in a gym with a trainer two to three days a week on top of that.

How do you make time for exercise?

I have to physically schedule it. I put it on the calendar at least three days a week–it’s that simple. You have to make time for yourself, and that might mean moving some things around but it’s important. Usually I take my kids to school in workout clothes so that when I drop them off I make sure I don’t go somewhere else. If I’m dressed for the day, there’s no going back!

You got a lot of press for shedding weight last summer and you’ve definitely kept it off. How do you do it?

Protein snacks throughout the day are huge; I love turkey rolls with avocado in it. I usually start the day off with a green smoothie with greens, aloe vera juice, coconut oil—all that good stuff. I also try not to eat too late, that’s another big one. None of this stuff is new and we hear it all the time–I just started to incorporate them into my daily life.

Diddy & Mark Wahlberg launch AquaHydrate

Is there anything that Diddy doesn’t do?

The entertainment powerhouse Diddy a.k.a Sean Combs has teamed up with actor Mark Wahlberg to partner in a new business venture that doesn’t involve music or acting. This time Diddy is putting his talents behind the Southern California water and wellness brand called  AQUAhydrate. The business arrangement entails Diddy and Wahlberg to be brand architects of the company.

Diddy says “As a brand architect, I am incredibly passionate and equally committed to every aspect of the businesses that I get involved with,”. “Partnering with AQUAhydrate and Mark is an incredible opportunity for me and I am looking forward to making history in the process. It’s important for me to be part of something that drives me and is constantly pushing the boundaries, and that’s what AQUAhydrate does. Together, we’re going to take AQUAhydrate to the next level.”

Wondering what’s so special and different about  AQUAhydrate water that would make a mogul like Diddy want to take part in?

AQUAhydrate consists of  “A proprietary blend of electrolytes and trace minerals called ConcenTrace enhances our water with 72 different electrolytes and trace minerals. We source our electrolytes and minerals from the mineral-rich marine regions of Utah to ensure quality and taste. AQUAhydrate changes the “DNA” of water by using electrolysis (electric currents) to supercharge our water. Because of this, the pH level is raised from neutral to an alkaline pH9+ state without the use of liquid concentrates or additives. Taste the difference!”

Mr.Combs commented on his instagram page that  “AQUAhydrate is the best tasting water in the world”

One thing we know for sure is that Diddy knows taste.

Hollywood Food Trend: Hemp Protein

Picture 14

Hollywood is ditching the processed whey protein to get slim and trim. Instead, celebrities are replacing their original whey protein for Hemp. Even though hemp is the sister plant to marijuana, it has no THC in it. Charlize Theron is a big fan of hemp shakes. Hemp is known for boosting your energy for hours, it curves your cravings and detoxifies the body. Arguably the best protein on the market, those who have food sensitivities like allergies or other restrictions, should give this alternative protein a try,

Try this celebrity inspired Hemp protein shake recipe below;

  • 1/2 cup Almond Milk
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 3 drops of Liquid Stevia (optional)
  • 1-2 tb Hemp Protein Powder
  • 1 tb of Cinnamon
