Ellie Goulding Gets High, But Not Off What You Think!

ellieself

In this month’s issue of Self Magazine, Ellie Goulding opens up about working out and how it helps her get through the day.  Most people do not realize that working out and going to the gym does more than just physically make you look good, it helps you mentally as well and Ellie has proof.

“My training is part of my lifeIt’s something I need to do every day, because it affects my mood, my fitness, even my mind-set on stage.”

Dancing to her fast pace music gives her a workout on stage, but she still stays active off the stage.  As for her favorite thing to do, yoga is her go to activity.

“I get the biggest high when I do yoga.  People don’t realize that there’s such an  incredible drug in life that doesn’t involve any substances.”

Wow Ellie.  We’re thinking you should become a therapist too!

If Ellie has learned anything, it’s choosing her priorities, “… one of them is to respect my body and to do as much as I can with it while I’m here.”

We know why she wears crop tops in all her shows now… because she can!

Gabrielle Union’s Total Tummy Toner

20130719-120000.jpg

Smokin’ hot actress Gabrielle Union lit the red carpet on fire this week at the ESPY awards alongside boyfriend/NBA player Dwayne Wade. What’s not to envy about her ultra cool confidence and super toned curves — especially in a Zac Posen gown like this?!

The Being Mary Jane star keeps her fantastic figure in check with the help of celebrity life stylist AJ Johnson of the AJ Zone. “She’s got great legs, a cute tight butt, and tight abs,” says Johnson. “The whole package together is hotness!”

You won’t find any arguments here! Now how about telling us how to get a piece of that package? According to Johnson, it’s all about establishing a partnership between food and exercise. One of their favorite toning exercises? Ball Squats, which upgrade the fun factor of regular squats by working in the aid of an exercise ball. With our eye on Union’s discipline (and that hottie beau of hers, Dwyane Wade) we’re resolved to get on the ball, pun intended.

THE MOVE: BALL SQUATS

Ball Squat

Standing with feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart, and arms elevated out in front of you at shoulder height, stand against an exercise ball that is against a wall and behind you. Position the ball in your lower back area. With pelvis tucked (to focus on thighs and butt), slowly count to 8 and lower into the deepest squat possible. Keep your back erect with weight in your heels and don’t allow knees to shift forward over toes. This body position is great to help those with lower back and knee injuries or pain. Your aim is to sit deep enough that your butt drops below your knees. Sit in that deep squat position for a slow count of 5, then press back up to another slow count of 5, to the start position. The down and up is 1 set. Beginners repeat for 2 sets of 10 reps, intermediates repeat for 3 sets of 15 reps, and advanced repeat for 4 sets of 25 reps.

Kesha Goes Undercover to Workout!

keshapics

Crazy, fun, and spontaneous are a few words that people would use to describe singer and songwriter Kesha. But little do people know that Kesha is just your average girl trying to fit a workout in her schedule. As if jumping up and down on the stage every night is not enough, Kesha likes to get a run in here and there. She also likes to change things up a bit admitting to Self Magazine,

“I like to mix it up because I get bored easily. I bike, I swim and I love yoga. I also love rock climbing, which I’ve done since I was 16. It’s meditative and great for toning your arms and back.”

Take note people: switch things up in your daily workout and you will never get bored!

Being in the public eye usually means not being able to go out for a run in public places, but instead being enclosed into a gym. But Kesha being the superstar that she is finds a way to get some fresh air. In fact, she usually goes undercover and no one notices her! The twenty-six year old reveals,

“On tour, I usually get offstage around 11 P.M. with the most intense adrenaline rush, so I put my hood on-nobody ever recognizes me-hit the streets and run until I get exhausted. It’s nice to get to actually experience the world and exercise at the same time.”

So next time you are out and about at 11:00 PM, there might be a slight chance Kesha will be running right by you.
