Zosia Mamet Admits to Serious Eating Disorder

Screen shot 2014-08-13 at 9.00.35 AM

In the September issue of Glamour, “Girls” star Zosia Mamet reveals she had and still deals with a serious eating disorder that has affected her whole life.

“I was told I was fat for the first time when I was eight.  I’m not fat; I’m never been fat.  But ever since then, there has been a monster in my brain that tells me I am – that convinces me my clothes don’t fit or that I’ve eating too much.”

The 26-year-old went on to say, “At times it has forced me to starves myself, to run extra miles, to abuse my body.”

It wasn’t until her dad made her get help that she realized her disease was affecting everyone, not just her.

“He came home one night from a party, took me by the shoulders, and said, ‘You’re not allowed to die’.  It was the first time I realized this wasn’t all about me.  I didn’t care if I died, but my family did.  That’s the thing about these kind of disorders: They’re consuming; they make you egocentric; they’re all you can see.”

Even though she has been to treatment, it is still a daily battle for her;

“Today I am at a healthy weight, though I realize that my obsession will always be with me in some way.”

Zoe Saldana Has A Hard Time Slowing Down

zoe-saldana-womens-health-cover__medium_4x3

It’s not surprise that we all get older; and when most people get older, they tend to slow down.  But not Zoe Saldana.  In an interview with Women’s Health U.K., the Guardians of the Galaxy star admitted her body isn’t what it was years ago, but how she knows she needs to slow down.

The 36-year-old admits;

“My body is less toned.  I do look in the mirror and see things I don’t want.  My first reaction is I breathe and I think, ‘I’m a woman.  I’m 36.  My body is changing.”

Zoe’s level of workouts and how much she works out are based off what her body tells her.

“I’ve learnt to listen to myself, so whenever I don’t feel like doing anything that starts with ‘I should’ then I don’t.”

When this interview took place, the public did not know that Zoe was pregnant, but now that the world knows, you can see why she would want to slow things down.

I’m exactly where I want to be. I do feel beautiful in a way that even when I was working out a whole lot, I sometimes didn’t. Because there have been times that I was really slender and I didn’t like that I sometimes looked a little too muscular and flat chested – you’ll never be completely happy, so at the end of the day it’s like “F**k it. Just be happy, regardless.”

Of course Jessica has to workout to maintain her looks, but her role in Sin City helped her stay in shape due to all the dancing she had to learn.

Alyssa Milano Refuses To Step On Scale While Pregnant

Alyssa Milano steps on the cover of Fit Pregnancy‘s August issue looking fabulous while pregnant.  The actress is pregnant with her second child, saying “it is such a cool thing to experience.”

While some stars find it easy to be pregnant in the public eye,  Alyssa is one of them that finds it to be difficult.

“A female body is not made to look good in a bikini.  It’s made to give birth and have a baby and be a cozy companion for it afterward. And for my body, that meant putting on a lot of weight.”

Of course, being pregnant means eating more, but Alyssa chooses to go the healthy way and not indulge in junk food.

 “I didn’t indulge in fast food or junk food, so I knew it was a healthy weight. I just realized: This is what my body needs to do to have a healthy baby.”

She continued,

“We don’t get hungry when we’re pregnant for no reason. You’re making a skeletal system. You’re making organs. I refuse to look at the scale. I didn’t look at the scale with Milo until the day I gave birth. It’s funny, my file was open at my appointment yesterday and there was a big Post-it note that said, ‘She does not want to know her weight.'”

Do you think a pregnant woman should be concerned about her weight? We would love to hear your thoughts, sound off below.

It’s rare that you hear world-known models being fired for being overweight but that is exactly what happened to 28-year-old Chrissy Teigen.

The Sports Illustrated model revealed in an interview with DuJour that she was fired for being “too fat” from none other than Forever 21.

“I was actually fired from a job.  Forever 21, they booked me directly when I was much younger.  I showed up on set and they asked me if they could take a photo.  They shot that photo off to my agency, who then calls me as I’m sitting in the makeup chair, and they say, ‘You need to leave right now. They just said that you are fat and you need to come get your measurements taken.’ And I hate you, Forever 21. I hate you so much. Honestly you’re the worst.”

Chrissy even shared the horrible news on Twitter.  A fan tweeted her, “saw something on E news that Forever 21 fired you for being fat?”

John Legends soon to be wife replied, “yep they suck and I hate them.”

Wow… But doesn’t Forever21 sell all sizes, even a  plus size line?

Lauren Conrad Doesn’t Like Going To The Gym

lauren-conrad-kohls-2

It seems like all celebrities do what they can to stay in shape and have a thin frame.  I mean… have you ever heard of a celebrity who doesn’t hit up the gym?  Well if you haven’t, now you have.

The former Hills star Lauren Conrad revealed to People Magazine that she doesn’t hit up the gym; in fact, she doesn’t even like going to the gym.

“I’m not a huge fan of the gym, to be honest.  When I have to go to the gym and put an hour in, I’m just staring at the clock.”

Instead she prefers going outside in the fresh air,

“I just like getting out, like going on a hike, going on the kayaks, going for a run on the beach.”

Conrad is set to marry law student William Tell, but just because she is getting married, don’t expect her to go on some major diet.

“I really love food… I’m not good at dieting.  I try to make smart choices but eat a little bit less.”

Well, there’s no doubt that Conrad has a naturally fabulous body, and that will only benefit her for her fabulous wedding!

Venus Williams Bares It All for ESPN Body Issue 2014

mag14_bww_venuswilliams02_576x717

The Body Issue is definitely one of my favorite issues of ESPN Magazine. I am truly mesmerized by the human body, especially the bodies of athletes. It’s incredible how people have different body shapes, but I find it even more incredible the different types of physicalities of  athletes who play different sports. The cross between genetics, different types of training and nutrition to determine different body shapes and forms.

Tennis player Venus Williams graces the pages of the 2014 issue, letting us see her in a whole different light. She bares it all, with her body on display as well as telling her struggles with her disease “Sjogren’s Syndrome”. Peep excerpts from her interview with ESPN;

On doing a nude shoot, and body insecurities;

Oh man, this is the real deal. It didn’t dawn on me until right when I walked on set that I would have to be without clothes. If I would have thought about it before, there may have been a little less of a chance….I had such a lackadaisical attitude toward being tall. I never really used to care; it just always helped me with my game. Sometimes women who are taller aren’t comfortable with it, but I love being tall.

The only complaint she said she has about being tall is having a hard time finding jeans that fit for her height. And she admits she has big feet, and that it’s not the easiest finding cute shoes.

I was joking (around), wishing I did a thousand abs a day so I could compete with all the athletes that are just ripped, but I’m probably never going to be ripped…I wish I could retain muscle easier. If I don’t go to the gym for a week, I just get thinner and thinner. My body just doesn’t want it. I’m full of oil, I guess…

On how looking good plays a role on her confidence;

My motto personally has always been: Look Good, Play Well. I think there’s a connection with what you wear. If you don’t feel good about what you’re wearing, you aren’t going to feel confident and you aren’t going to be able to concentrate.

On her disease;

Sjogren’s syndrome has been a life-changing experience, that’s for sure….You are so tired it hurts. At my worst point, I wasn’t able to play tennis at all. Just the whole quality of my life was compromised — and uncomfortable. It’s very difficult to understand unless you’ve gone through it. Especially as a professional athlete, there’s never any acceptable excuse. You push and you push and you’ll die on the court if you have to, but you get it done. The whole experience is just foreign as an athlete. You have to accept that you’re never going to be 100 percent. So, how do you get past those roadblocks? I wouldn’t say I “enjoyed” the challenge. But I’m up for the challenge.

Interesting enough, comparing her  body to her sister Serena Williams, who both biologically have the same parents, and play the same sports, yet  have different body types. Check out the differences of Venus’ ESPN body issue pics compared to Serena’s body issue pics from a previous issue below;

Colin Farrell Hits Up A Yoga Class

Exclusive... Colin Farrell Works Up A Sweat At Yoga

While most guys prefer weights, you’ll find Colin Farrell hitting up numerous yoga classes.

The 38-year-old was seen leaving yoga classes in LA not once, not twice, but multiple times this week.

Back in 2013, Farrell told Access Hollywood why he prefers and loves yoga so much.

“It’s fun. [I] do it every day, as much as I can.  I love being in a class with students – 30 or 40 people all moving in unison.  It’s very easy to live where you remain in your head… and you’re concerned about various things and constantly contemplating and so on and so forth, so it takes you out of your head for a while and just puts you back into you body.”

Studies have shown that doing yoga or meditating for 30 minutes a day for 8 weeks can dramatically improve the physical framework of the brain. It actually helps increase the parts of your brain which involve memory and learning, and decreases other parts which are associated with anxiety and stress.

Being a hot celebrity in hollywood, sure could make one stressed out, we see why Colin wants to get his yoga on as much as he can. And if that’s how he also get his six-pack, I’m in!
